Rita Jean Crossland age 83 of Daingerfield passed away at her home on February 10, 2025. She was born on June 26, 1941 to Wayne and Jessie Nation, I.
At a young age, Rita married Windell Thomas Crossland on Christmas Eve of 1958. They went on to have 3 children. She was the first female Brookshire’s Grocery Store Manager before retiring from Albertsons. During retirement, she was a certified yoga instructor and masseuse. She was a member of the Ore City Church of Christ for many years. She had many passions in life which included painting, flowering, and gardening.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Wayne A. Nation I and Jessie Faye King Nation; her loving husband, Windell Thomas Crossland; siblings, Kay Baker, Ginger Nation, Wayne Nation II; grandson, Brady Lakey; great grandson, Anthony Tubbs; and nephew Paul Edward Nation.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Chip Crossland of Daingerfield, Jeff Crossland and wife Robin of Gilmer, Teresa Crossland and fiancé Mack Gowanlock, of Marshall; siblings, Paul Nation and wife Kristi of San Diego, California, Connie Smith of Bloomfield, New Mexico; grandchildren, Sheri Piatt and husband Jimmy of Longview, Justin Thompson of Hallsville, Zac McCarty and fiancé Alexis of San Antonio, Samuel Crossland of Gilmer, Robinann Noland and husband Daniel of Gilmer, Jessie Nation of Gladewater; 9 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews; and the Ore City Church of Christ family and friends.
A memorial service has been set for Monday, February 17, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at the Church of Christ in Ore City. We ask that all flowers be sent directly to the Church of Christ for the service







When I would walk into church her smile was normally the first thing I’d see!! Her hugs, her advice, her caring nature will be missed! God Bless you Mrs.Rita! Prayers🙏🏼
