James Emory Moulton, 83, of Avinger was born on July 18, 1941 in Pensacola, FL. He passed away on Tuesday morning, January 7, 2025 at his residence.
He was born into a Navy military family and was also in the Army with service in Vietnam. On his return back home, he became a police officer and served in San Diego County as a Deputy Sheriff for 22 years until he retired. After that, he had a second career designing and building Marina's in California until finally retiring, and relocating to Eagle Landing in 2009 with his wife. Since that time, he has given of his time and expertise helping the Chamber, CRESS and Eagle Landing with all of their never-ending endeavors that have been put before him...not always with a smile, but ALWAYS there for us!
He is survived by his loving wife, Elaine Moulton; sons, Brian Mertens and wife, Stephanie, John Mertens and wife, Michele; sister, Gail Nichols and husband, Peter; grandsons, Shawn Mertens, Jacob Mertens, Andrew Mertens, James Mertens; great grandchildren, Kamden Mertens, Scarlett Mertens; niece; Xio Ying Jennings and husband, Carl; and other surviving family; Terry Long and husband, James, Betty Woodard and husband, Gary, Jalorn Keesler, Lita Brown and husband, Jim, Rex Smith and wife, Carolyn, Russell Smith and wife, Judy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 10 AM on January 25, 2025, in the chapel of Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.







Jim was a pure joy to listen to. His humor was wonderful. He will be greatly missed
