Samuel Revercomb Ervin
August 9, 1957 ~ December 26, 2024
Samuel Revercomb Ervin, Jr., 67, of Hughes Springs was born on August 9, 1957, in Arlington, VA to Samuel Ervin, Sr. and Beulah Ervin. He passed away Thursday, December 26, 2024, at St. Michael’s in Texarkana.
Sam married Linda Gail Roberts of Burnsville, VA on December 17, 1979. They had three daughters together and raised their family in Highland County, VA.
He always said he wasn't born in Texas, but he got here as fast as he could. Sam was a man of great faith in the Lord. He was known for his kind heart, and always seeing the best in everyone. He never met a stranger. He had a sly sense of humor and woke up every morning always looking for the next adventure. Throughout the years Sam went on many business adventures but was a truck driver at heart. He loved being on the road and saw many sights along the way through the years. He was a long-time member of the Bar Nun Cowboy Ministries in Omaha.
Mr. Ervin was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Amber Whitelaw; grandson, Samuel Salmons; brother, Jerry Ervin; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lula and Grady Roberts; and one brother-in-law, Charles Bechtel.
Those that survive him include his loving wife of 45 years, Linda Gail Ervin of Hughes Springs; daughters, Tara Morrow of Arizona, Morgan Fritts and Husband Robert of Hughes Springs; grandchildren, Jonah Morrow, Zakery Morrow, Colt Morrow, Arianna Whitelaw, Malachi Whitelaw, Mason Fritts, Cooper Fritts; sisters, Laten Bechtel of Virginia, Alice Patler of Virginia; brother, Steve Ervin of West Virginia; special friend, Dwaine Higgins as well as many, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
There will be a graveside celebration held at 2 PM, Monday, December 30, 2024, at Cornett Cemetery with Bro. Dwaine Higgins officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home of Daingerfield. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 PM at the cemetery prior to the service.

I first met Sam in about 1983 or ’84 when he began attending our church during Norvel Hayes revival services that were being aired nationwide via satellite from Dallas. I was blessed by Sam’s hunger for the things of God, and we became good friends. I also admired his commitment to his family. He was definitely a family man. Although we lived on opposite sides of the county back here in Virginia, he was always a cheerful guy to run into. He had a quick sense of humor that would catch you off guard if you didn’t know him. He also wasn’t afraid to try new things, like when he bought a limousine and became a limousine driver for a few years. I know Sam is safe in the presence of his Lord now, and that when the time comes for me to go home, I will get to meet up with him again. My prayers go out to his precious wife, Gail, as well as to his wonderful girls, Tara and Morgan. Sam leaves behind a good spiritual legacy.
Thank you Chip. My most cherished memories of Dad is our father-daughter dates attending church and doing church related things.
I’ve known Sam since around 1983, and he was always a great friend. Sam and his family welcomed me into their home when I had nowhere else to go, and treated me as family. Sam had an open door policy at his house to all friends. He would help anybody in need, and he never met a stranger. He was a gear jamming trucker and he loved running the western USA. He will be missed very much by all who knew him,and I must say that there will never be another Sammy Ervin. The world needs many more Sammy Ervin’s… Rest in peace mr. Truck driver.
We were so saddened to hear of Sammy’s passing, our thoughts and prayers are with each of you during this difficult time. Sammy helped on our farm in Highland Co for a while and was a good friend.

My heart hurts for all of you. I didn’t know your dad well, but I do know you all. Dad’s are very special people and hard to part with. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Sending much love and hugs to all of you. ❤️
So very sorry for your loss! I will be praying for the families healing! Keep hold of all the good memories and love you shared! May god bless you!❤️
Sammy loved us, the fatherless and strangers, when we moved into Burnsville around 1991. He loved to talk about the Holy Spirit. Good memories of getting into adventures with Sam.

I used to live near Sammy years ago in Highland County, Virginia. Sammy loved to talk about the things of God. We had a small home church that he attended regularly. Most importantly Sammy was always a great friend and would help anyone in need.
I always enjoyed talking to Sammy when he would stop by the house looking for Jonah. He always had me laughing. He was a good man who led a good life, and he will be missed. May God comfort Gail and the family. The Hall family . Chris
