James Ruel Herring was born on August 15, 1961 to Ruel Elmer Herring and Mable Herring. He passed away at the age of 63 on September 29, 2024.
James attended Vivian Highschool in Vivian, Louisiana. After graduating, he worked in the oil field. For 5 years, he worked as a plumber at Clubs Plumbing. Before retiring, he was a plumber for Mike Carter for 17 years. James was a hard worker who enjoyed being outdoors. His passions included deer hunting and wood crafting.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ruel Elmer Herring and Mable Herring; brother, Mark Herring; and grand daughter, Keira McGinnis.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Kim Herring; children and spouses, Samantha Taber, Sarah Taber, Jamie and Brant McGinnis, Jimmy and Summer Taber, Jennifer and Ben Huffman, Suzanne and Benny Littlepage; siblings, Bill Herring, Susan and Allen Ames, Charolette Davenport; along with 17 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for James will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, October 6, 2024 in the chapel of Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home. A visitation will be held one hour prior. Interment will take place at Munnerlyn Chapel Cemetery in Ida, Louisiana. Services have been entrusted to Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home.

I remember bees on strings n “Back that ..by Juvenile” Flying squirrels n box fans n a couple things I can’t say!!! I remember sum 1 who was patient when need n funny n caring. I remember sum 1 who loved me no matter what. I’m gonna miss Unk more than ever 1 will understand. I love yall n I wish this was all just a bad dream.
