January 18, 1955 ~ September 21, 2024
William Dennis "Hoss" Alston, 69, of Longview was born on January 18, 1955 in Longview to David and Elaine Alston. He passed away, Saturday, September 21, 2024 at his residence. Dennis was raised in Hallsville and attended Hallsville Schools where he proudly played football. Following in his father's footsteps, Dennis enjoyed a long career with Texas Eastman Chemical Co. where he earned the nickname "Hoss" from his friends and colleagues. He retired in 2019 after 39 years with the company. Dennis was a man of many skills and talents. He loved the art of Intarsia (woodworking) and created countless beautiful pieces throughout the years. He enjoyed the outdoors. He especially loved fishing, his animals and working on anything with a motor. Perhaps though, one of his favorite things to do was socialize. He always looked forward to the "monthly birthday party" which was often the birthday of a friend, but sometimes just an opportunity to get friends together with no birthday to celebrate at all. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Michael Glenn Alston. Those left to cherish his many memories include his wife, Monique Alston of Longview; daughters, Elaine Chosa and Kory of Montana, Stephanie Alston of Austin; sons, Chris Alston of Longview, Thomas Evans and wife Mariah of Hallsville; 12 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; brother, David Alston and wife, Sophie of Palmview. A graveside service will be held at 11 AM Friday, September 27, 2024 at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Longview with Reverend Tony Pierce officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Dennis. Our memories go way back to our childhood as neighbors. I have the memories of the three Alston boys. I also have the memories of your parents. We had a great neighborhood. Enjoyed riding the school bus together. What great memories we share.
May God give you the peace that passes all understanding. I will keep your family in my thoughts, and prayers. Rest In Peace Dennis Alston!!! You are now reunited with your parents, and brother, Michael.
