James Earl "Squirrell" Carr, 68, of Hughes Springs was born on December 17, 1955 in Naples to James and Shirley Carr. He passed away Tuesday morning, September 17, 2024 at his home. Squirrell was someone who loved everyone and never met a stranger. He often grabbed the attention of those around him with his great story telling abilities. He shared many memories through the years with his cousins. A lover of a lot of things, Squirrell never had a dull moment in life. When he was able, he loved to fish and hunt, work on cars and had a deep love for motorcycles. He enjoyed his roosters and loved to listen to music while enjoying a cold beer. He was a truck driver and hauled many a load across the country. Most of all he loved his family. He never let a day go by without telling his wife and daughters how beautiful they were and how blessed he was to have them. Mr. Carr was preceded in death by many relatives including his father; daughter, Sabrina Carr; grandchildren, Milly and Lilly; brothers, Royce Carr, Ricky Carr; and sister, Gail Sharbine. Those he left to cherish many memories of him include his loving wife of almost 50 years, Charlotte Carr of Hughes Springs; daughters, Jamie Carr of Hughes Springs, Glenda Smith and husband Bubba of Hughes Springs, Brenda Carr of Dallas; grandchildren, Christian Carr and MyKaila, Austin Carr and Rose, Shelbi Brabham and Hunter, Bobby (Aka Lil Bubba) Smith, Liv Rose, Brelee Carr; great grandchildren, Maddy Carr, Sabrina Joe Carr, Lily; mother, Shirley Ann Carr of Hughes Springs; brothers, Mark Carr of Lone Star, Cecil Carr of Rockport; sister, Becky Wilson of Hughes Springs and brother-in-law, Ricky Duke of Lone Star. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Saturday, September 21, 2024 in the Chapel of Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home in Daingerfield with Pastor Shelby Crump officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Spring Hill Cemetery in Rocky Branch. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 4 to 6 PM Friday, September 20, 2024 at the funeral home.
