Ruby Martin Walker

Ruby M. Walker, 87, was born on September 9, 1936, to James Martin and Emma Jenkins. She peacefully passed away on August 5, 2024. She lived most of her life in Shreveport, Louisiana before retiring to her hometown of Daingerfield. Ruby served her church for many years in the nursery and as a Pre-School teacher. Even though she wore many different hats in her lifetime, her favorite role was as grandmother. “Granny” as they called her, loved and cherished her time with them the most. She is preceded in death by her husband Raymond Lee Walker, daughter Paula Walker Poole, sisters, Pearl Rankin, Anne Martin, Lila Beaver, and brother Curtis Martin. She is survived by her daughter Donna and husband David Shelton of Georgia, son Raymond Lee Walker, Jr of Louisiana, grandchildren Haley Gaddy of Georgia, Bryce Shelton of Maryland, and Colton Walker of Louisiana, grandchildren S.J. and Lydia Brice Gaddy of Georgia. She is also survived by sister Bea Marley and brother Clifton Martin both of Daingerfield as well as several nieces and nephews. A celebration of life service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, August 9, in the chapel of Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place in Daingerfield Cemetery.
