The daughters of Sandra Jo Smith Forsyth announce with heavy hearts the passing of our mom. She surrendered to a long battle with cancer on June 21, 2024, in Daingerfield, TX. She was born in the home of her grandparents at the family homestead in Rocky Branch, County Line community, September 24, 1940, to Frank and Eva Lou Smith. Sandra was preceeded in death by her parents, two daughters Ruby Gore (June 2022) and Candi Fisher (March 2024) and granddaughter Victoria Allison. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Leo (Pete) Forsyth; daughters Toni Danielson and husband Gary, Judi Mott and husband Joe, Elizabeth Hughes, Lea Ann Loving, Sandra Jo (Jojo) Martin and husband Brad, 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and her life-long friend Glenda Scarborough. Our mom loved her pets, reading old west novels, John Wayne movies, and reminiscing of her travels with Pete in the western US, especially in the Rocky Mountains. She kept journals and took many pictures of her travels. Our mom was an incredible cook, seamstress, storyteller, and mom. She will be dearly missed. Mom was a proud Texan and loved the history of her community. She was a member of the Morris County Historical Commission and was instrumental in getting Historical Markers placed for County Line, Springhill and Loving Cemeteries as well as the Rocky Branch Community. A memorial service honoring our mom, Ruby, and Candi is planned for September 14th, 2024, at Springhill Cemetery in Rocky Branch, TX. Details regarding the memorial will be announced later. Arrangements have been entrusted to Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home in Daingerfield.
