Nelda Hitt McClure, 82, of Daingerfield was born on December 31, 1941 in Soules Chapel to Dewey and Mary Hitt. She passed away unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. After graduating from high school, Mrs. McClure went on to receive her LVN certificate. She worked as a nurse for 36 years. She was the epitome of a homemaker. Nelda cooked for 4 kids, kept up after 4 poodles and 4 pugs later in life. Growing up during the war in her childhood, she developed a great understanding for the need of saving and preparing. She learned to sew, can foods, make jelly and found time to enjoy ceramics, oil paintings, and reading, all while working full time. She was a member of Veal Switch Baptist Church and a current member of South Jefferson Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant. A loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Mrs. McClure was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband, Richard McClure. Those left to cherish her memories includer her sons, Todd Bohannan and wife Crystal of Daingerfield, Danny Bohannan of Daingerfield; daughter, Nicole McClure of Texarkana; grandchildren, Lydia Bohannan, Taylor Dawn Moles, Dylan Moles and great grandson, Maverick Moles. A celebration of Mrs. McClure's life will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at Veal Switch Baptist Church in Hughes Springs with Tommy Oglesby officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 AM for a time of visitation prior to the service. Services have been entrusted to Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home in Daingerfield. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in her honor to: Daingerfield Animal Shelter, 1103 Bert St., Daingerfield, Texas 75638.

  1. I have known Nelda for a very long time, she worked at NETCO Grocery store with my dad and so many others, She was a sweetheart

  2. I have known this person for many yrs.i worked with her in nursing field.she was a close close friend to me.loved the lord and people.she would go out her way for her family and friends.her door was always open for me.i love her will miss her.norma

  3. Forgot this part. Nelda was a awesome loving caring nurse.She has 2boys that is awesome.did everything for there mother anything she wanted them to do they was on top of it.they took care of her.i knew Todd more than Danny but in 2yrs now I have talked with Danny got to know him .very awesome person.like I said I love her.and she always had her door open for me.i did what I could do for her so the boys could work enjoy doing things for her.we had alot of laughs together.we was close.norma

  4. I just loved Nell. She was such a sweet, sweet person. We went to church together at Veal Switch. She was a good Christian lady. I enjoyed seeing her on Facebook . She will certainly be missed. Prayers for her family.
