Keith Wayne Durrett was born on October 19, 1954 to Wendell Durrett and Ethel Jones. He passed away on May 28, 2024 in Dallas. Keith worked hard for many years in industrial maintenance having spent most of his time with SWEPCO and A&E Machine Shop. For 45 plus years, Keith served as a volunteer fireman with the Daingerfield Fire Department. He loved to water-ski and enjoyed all lake activities. He was an avid Texas Rangers fan and was a Baptist. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Keith was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Doug Durrett and one sister, Aleta Ann Kelley. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Cheryl Durrett of Daingerfield; daughters, Lauree Boozer Tyson (Wade) of Atlanta, Amy Boozer McCollum of Naples; grandchildren, Cody Satterfield (Katie) of Daingerfield, Tyler Ashley (Erickah) of Texarkana, Taryn Brown (Colton) of New Boston, Brady McCollum of Dennison; numerous great grandchildren; stepfather, Charley "Nick." Nichols of Lone Star; sisters, Judy Pardue of Daingerfield, Sherry Coleman (Johnny) of Ore City; brothers, Terry Durrett (Pam) of Lebanon, TN, Chuck Nichols (Mindy) of Ore City, Andy Nichols (Katie) of Longview; brother-in-law, Randy Johnston (Carabeth) of Mt. Pleasant as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A funeral service will be held at 11 O'clock in the morning on Saturday, June 1, 2024 in the new Frazier Street Chapel of Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Daingerfield Cemetery. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in honor of Keith to: Alzheimer's Alliance Tri-State, 100 Memory Ln., Texarkana, Texas 75503 or online at www.alztristate.org.
