Funeral services for Earnest "Earnie" Terry, 80, of Jenkins will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at South Union Baptist Church with Pastor Chad Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Clark Cemetery under the direction of Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home of Daingerfield. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation from 5 to 7 PM Monday evening, May 27, 2024 at the funeral home. Mr. Terry was born on September 23, 1943 and passed away early Friday morning, May 24, 2024 at his home. He was a 1962 graduate of DHS. On August 7, 1972, he married Patsy Cate and they would spend the next 51 years together. He worked for Lone Star Steel for 35 years and retired in 2006 as general foreman. He enjoyed his retirement and was always busy outside taking care of his home. He was a good man and friend who was always willing to help a friend in need. He always took care of his family and loved them dearly. Earnie loved his Daingerfield Tigers and bled blue through and through. He was a huge Dallas Cowboys, Texas Longhorn and Texas Rangers fan. He loved football but would watch all sports in support of the teams he rooted for. Earnie enjoyed gardening, loved woodworking, fishing, hunting, camping and worked hard to keep his yard and home maintained. A loving husband, father and papa, Mr. Terry has been reunited with his son, Jerry Wayne Terry; his parents, Samuel and Eva Terry; brothers, Elywen Terry and "Buddy" Terry. Those left to cherish his many memories include his wife; Patsy Terry of Daingerfield; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Brandi Terry of Daingerfield; grandchildren, Austin Terry of Daingerfield, Cason Terry of Daingerfield; brothers-in-law, Sidney Issacs and wife Julie and their daughter Katrina of Casper, Wyoming, Jimmy Cate and wife Virginia of Abilene, Billy Thomas Cate of Longview; nieces, Christi Cate- Morgan and husband Brent, Lezlie Lee and husband Chad; great nieces Bailey, Sierra and son, great nephew, Dakote and family as well as many cousins and friends. Those serving as pallbearers include, Justin Pollan, Brent Morgan, Doug Reeder and Brad Miller. Honorary pallbearers include, Austin Terry, Cason Terry, Rodney Byrd, Tanner Byrd and Loarn Byrd.
