Bobby W. Blassingame was born on February 26, 1936 to James Blassingame, the Pentecostal preacher, and his wife Ester. Bobby passed away peacefully at his home on January 7, 2024, at the age of 87. He was born in the area of Dallas, Texas, where he would go on to be raised by his parents in Grand Prairie, Texas. In his younger years, Bobby would go on to meet his first wife, Betty Blassingame. They gave birth to a son, Steve Blassingame. In 1986, Bobby moved his family to the Daingerfield area where he would live out the remainder of his years. He worked at Coors for 50 years before retirement. He enjoyed his job as he was surrounded by his coworkers who would become lifetime friends and associates. Bobby has many passions. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing with his friends at the Daingerfield country club. He also had a passion for dancing as he belonged to several dance clubs. After being widowed, Bobby was reacquainted with Sue Griffis. They went on to be married and shared the love of dancing with one another. In 2016, he was diagnosed with cancer. He battled cancer with his usual candor and sense of humor as he went on to win the battle several times with Sue by his side. Through the struggles in his later years, he always did his best to keep a smile on his face and love the people around him. Bobby loved many things in life; however, he loved nothing more than his family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Bobby is preceded in death by his son, Steve Blassingame. He is survived by his wife, Sue Griffis-Blassingame; grandchildren; Bo Blassingame and his wife Becky; Steven Blassingame and his wife Harleigh; Rikki Blassingame Hirshman and her husband Brian; Kyla Blassingame and wife Haley; step-daughter's; Donna Griffis Hager, Nancy Griffis Petty; step-son's; Danny Griffis, Mike Griffis, Robert Griffis; daughter-in-law, Ivanna Blassingame and 5 great grandchildren. 1. Bobby was a good friend to me and Harold. He was a good golf buddy of Harold’s. His happy demeanor will be missed. He loved to tease the tellers at THNB that worked the drive-thru window. We will cherish all the good memories. Peggy Banks.

  2. Bobby was a good man, good husband, father and grandfather, and mostly a good golf partner. Loved by many, liked by everyone. We will miss him. R.I.P., Blass!
