A celebration of life for Bro. Leroy Hassler will be held at 10 AM Saturday, January 20, 2024 at the Crossing on the Campus of Mobberly Baptist Church in Longview, 625, East Loop 281 with Bro. Randall Jinkins officiating. A visitation and reception will follow the celebration. Services have been entrusted to the Horn Family at Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home of Daingerfield.
Leroy was born on October 6, 1945, in Shreveport, LA and grew up in East Texas. Leroy attended Stephen F. Austin State University, Florida Baptist Theological College, Graceville, FL, and graduated from Dallas Baptist University. Leroy continued his education at Southwestern Baptist Seminary, Stetson University, and Luthur Rice Seminary. Leroy was a member of Mobberly Baptist Church.
In 1973, Leroy surrendered completely to the lordship of Jesus Christ and on April 7, 1974, answered God’s call to evangelism. His ministry began as Pastor at Eastside Baptist Church and Rusk, TX, but with a growing heart for making the gospel known to the nations, Leroy began Hassler Evangelistic Ministries in 1978.He preached in over 600 churches spanning across 20 countries with work in North America, Central America, South America, Africa, Australia, and Asia. He hosted 54 overseas crusades, proclaimed the gospel in nearly 4,000 schools, and planted 358 churches in 9 countries. To God be the glory, through this ministry 4.4 million decisions for Christ have been recorded.
Leroy entered the presence of the Lord on December 15, 2023, and is survived by his loving wife and partner in ministry Sally Ann. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Mission Dignity, a ministry of Guidestone, which focuses on providing for vital housing, food, and medical needs of retired pastors and their spouses - www.guidestone.org/mission-dignity/.

Lit a candle in memory of Leroy Yarnold Hassler
Leroy preached revivals in nearly all my churches from the 70s into 2000s. His passion for souls and his prayer life were unlike anyone I knew. God used Leroy internationally to cause about 5 million people to make a profession of faith and his ministry started hundreds of new churches in many countries, especially in Africa. It has been my honor to edit and publish all his books. The kingdom rejoices for his faithfulness.
David Driver (Eddy),
Leroy was preaching the night the LORD Jesus saved my soul in 1988 at Blaise Baptist Church. I was blessed with the honor of going on many mission trips with Brother Hassler. We were in Moscow together in 1993 where I saw Brother Hassler
passion for lost souls shine. While the rest of the group stopped for lunch, Leroy remained outside witnessing and passing out Bible tracts. He was a wonderful servant of Christ Jesus and a great friend.
I haven’t seen Leroy Hassler in many years but he preached revival several times in churches I attended as a teenager and also several times at a church in Alabama that I pastored in the 1990s. He was a dedicated servant of God. He prayed with me on my living room floor and gave me excellent advice that I thought of even today. This inspired me to do a search online and I discovered his obituary. I am saddened to know that the world is absent a great evangelist but Bro. Leroy is now experiencing his reward with Jesus. My condolences and prayers for Ms. Ann Hassler.
