Funeral services for Charlene Thorne, 92, of Daingerfield will be held at 11 AM Friday, November 10, 2023 at the First Baptist Church of Daingerfield with Bro. Michael Kessler officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery in Mount Pleasant. Mrs. Thorne was born in the leap year of 1931 on April 29th in Gowen, OK to Marion and Edith Monks. She passed away Monday afternoon, November 6, 2023 while surrounded by her loving family at her home in Daingerfield. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Daingerfield. Services have been entrusted to the Horn Family at Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home in Daingerfield. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday, November 9, 2023 at the funeral home. Throughout her lifetime in Daingerfield, Mrs. Thorne worked for W.C. Curry as a bookkeeper for 8 years, was a secretary at West Elementary School for 21 years and worked with the First Baptist Church Mother's Day Out for 9 years. She was blessed to have traveled across 48 states. In her later years, Mrs. Thorne loved to quilt, work in her flower beds and especially enjoyed her roses. A loving mother and grandmother, Mrs. Thorne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William "Bill" Thorne; sister, Juanita Jarrett; brothers, Jack R. Monks, Doyal J. Monks, Billy G. Monks, Douglas M. Monks; and uncle G.W. Monks. Those left to cherish her memories include her sons and daughters-in-law, James "Jim" Thorne and wife Dani of Allen, KY, John "Bob" Thorne and wife Susan of Daingerfield; grandsons, James "Dusty" Thorne of Daingerfield, Steven Thorne of Longview; granddaughter, Staci Thorne of Longview; great grandchildren, Clara Charlene Thorne and Rielly Thorne.
The family would like to offer a heart-felt thank you to Heart to Heart Hospice, to Dr. Kenneth McClure and staff and her caregivers Val and Dee for the wonderful care you provided to her in her last days.

Mrs. Thorne was a Graceful Lady who Distinguished Herself by being Humble and Kind……
Mrs. Thorne was a Pillar of the Daingerfield Community who could always be counted on to help when her assistance was needed with a worthy cause……
Like most Mothers in the North East Texas area, Mrs. Thorne made certain that her children and grandchildren knew their Lord and Savior personally…..
As those of us of a “certain age” mature into being counted amongst the Elders and the Elderly, we are reminded of how truly Blessed we are……
We are Thankful To God to have been Blessed to Live this Long…..
