Setsuko Lee
March 2, 1947 ~ July 28, 2023
Setsuko Lee was born on March 2, 1947, in Japan. She peacefully passed away at her home on July 28, 2023, at the age of 76, surrounded by her friends and son, Johnny.
Born in Japan, Setsuko spent most of her youth growing up surrounded by pristine natural scenery and incredible foods. At the age of 25 she made the staggering decision to move to the United States of America, leading her to eventually settle down in the small town of Daingerfield, Texas. She would then live in the Daingerfield community for 51 years, enjoying every minute of it. She quickly became a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church of Daingerfield where she proudly came to Christ! She loved beauty as she joyfully did her job as a beautician. She spent many years as a homemaker to her loving spouse who passed away in 1997. She loved her son, Johnny Lee, more than anything in the world! As Setsuko left her family in Japan, she met many wonderful people who would play important roles in her life. Her friends described her as kind, loving, and compassionate to everyone that she met! A short list of those people being: her caregiver, Fermin Rodriguez, Vicki Warden, Florinda Fernandes and her family, Cathy Peoples, Jose Olguin and wife Elia Olguin.
A memorial service for Setsuko Lee, 76, of Jenkins will be held Thursday, August 3rd at 2 PM in the Chapel of horn nail haggard funeral home.

I had John Lee in my 1st grade classroom. He was such a joy to teach and so smart! His mom, Ms. Lee was such a kind person. She was always so helpful in being the best room mom. She often brought treats for the class to eat. I am so sorry to hear of her passing. God bless her family.
My Aunt Setsuko was one of the best people I have ever known. She was so caring and compassionate. I loved spending time with her and learned so much just sitting at her kitchen table. She was a great person and really knew people. I will miss her so much and will always remember her kind and wise spirit.
God be with all of us as we mourn our loss and eternity’s gain.
