Jean was an active, attending member of Mobberly for over 23 years and was also a member of The Mobberly Worship Choir as a Soprano for 17 years. She loved her choir family and being in the choir. She was born to Tommy and Thelma Lewis in Longview, Tx on November 9, 1942. She went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 24,2023 at the young age of 80, from complications of Dementia. She was surrounded at the bedside by her husband, Robert; 3 children-Sheli, Robbie and Darin as well as her oldest grand-daughter, Brittany Salazar; niece, Debbie Johnston and sister-in-law, Martha Lewis and Jean’s favorite companion, her sweet Bichon Frise, Zoey. She grew up and lived in Longview most of her life. She was a 1960 graduate of Pine Tree High School and attended a local business school after high school. In 1962, she started dating Robert Black and they married in 1963 at Calvary Baptist Church in Longview, Tx. They had 3 children: Sheli Black Kipp, of Longview, Robbie Black of Hallsville and Darin Black of Colorado. Together, She and Robert owned and operated Black’s Home Furnishings in Longview for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tommy and Thelma Lewis and brother, Kenneth Lewis. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Robert Black. Her children: Sheli Black Kipp (Rick), Robbie Black and Darin Black. Her grandchildren: Shelby Kipp Galeas (Jason), Brittany Black Salazar (Francisco), Zane Black, Brenna Black, Jhett Black, Hunter Strong and Alexander Black. She had 2 great grandchildren: Meredith Salazar and Kiley Salazar. Her loving sister-in-law, Martha Lewis. Nieces and nephews: Debbie Lewis Johnston (Clay), Ryan Lewis (Marlynn), Tammy Black (Zunaid), David Fowler (Victoria) and DeAnn Fowler Bodey (Karey). She had so many friends that loved her dearly, one being Nancy & the late Jim Robinson of Longview. We want to also thank the great staff and caregivers at Parkview Assisted Living in Longview and Hearts Way Hospice of Northeast Texas. The family is comforted in knowing she is in Heaven with Jesus and completely healed, and with loved ones that went before. We as Christians know we will all be together again someday in Heaven for eternity.
