Keith D. Balthrop

Funeral services for Keith D. Balthrop, 71, of Hughes Springs will be held at 3 PM Friday, August 5, 2022 in the Chapel of Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home of Daingerfield with the Rev. Ryan Stratton officiating. Burial will take place in Restland Cemetery in Dallas. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 PM Thursday, August 4, 2022, at the funeral home. Mr. Balthrop was born on September 20, 1950. He passed away on Saturday afternoon, July 30, 2022 in a Hughes Springs nursing facility. Keith was raised in Garland, Texas. He went to East Texas Junior College and was in the Strategic Air Command in the Air Force. He was a retired postal worker. He loved being outdoors doing anything from boating, swimming, scuba diving, shooting the rapids in the Colorado River in his kayak and motorcycle riding. He was a lifetime member of the VFW. In his high-school years he started a band. He loved working on cars and playing with his dog Sadie. Keith was a loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys and he was born and raised a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his parents, Judson Duane and JoAnn Balthrop. He is survived by one sister, Linda Balthrop Piccola; three nieces Shannon Adams, Sherry Gardi and Shelly Richardson; one nephew Shawn Thompson; several grand nieces and nephews.
