Graveside services for James A. Howell 88 of Hughes Springs will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 1, 2021 at Snow Hill Cemetery with Bro. Michael Roberts officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Nail-Haggard Funeral Home.James was born on October 24, 1932 in Morris County to Arthur McKinley and Vannie Nipper Howell. He died on Tuesday, December 29, 2020.James was a member of Veal Switch Baptist Church and served as a veteran of the U S Army. He retired from Lone Star Steel and enjoyed traveling.He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Frank Ernest, J. W., Roy, Richard, Wesley, Ruby Ethel, Gladys and Pauline.Survived by his wife of 43 years Wanda Howell of Hughes Springs; children James C. Howell and wife Karrie of Florida, Paul Howell of Fayetteville, Ark., Jayme Barker and husband Doug of Cypress, Price Thomas and wife Gail of Hughes Springs, Mickey Schuerman and husband Loyd of Hughes Springs, Greg Thomas and wife Marie of Hughes Springs, Johnny Thomas and wife Candy of Hughes Springs; 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.Online condolences may be made at Nail-HaggardFH.com







It seems that James was always smiling. Our class of 1953 gets smaller and smaller. I did not realize you had such a large family. What a blessing. I only know about Daingerfield deaths when I log on to Nail-Haggard. I have not been down there in years. I do not get to make it to family funerals any more. God bless you and your family and it was a joy to have known James and seeing you at our reunions.
