Services for Dorothy A. Lanier, 97 of Daingerfield will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Lilley's Chapel Church of Christ with Kenny Shaver officiating.Burial will be in the Clark Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nail-Haggard Funeral Home.Dorothy was born on February 25, 1921 in Daingerfield to Marvin and Bessie Jones Vaughn. She died on Thursday, December 13, 2018.She was a member of Lilley's Chapel Church of Christ and was retired from Daingerfield School District cafeteria. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband M. L. Lanier, son M. E. "Shot" Lanier and granddaughter Haylee Bond.Survived by daughter LaJuan Barton of Hooks, sons Scottie Lanier of Daingerfield, James "J C" Lanier and wife Sandy of Daingerfield, daughter Genevia Modisette and husband Charles of Leveretts Chapel; sisters Zelda Eaton and Pat Brown; brothers Neil Vaughn and wife Doris and Donald Vaughn; 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.Family will receive friends from 5 till 7 Saturday at the funeral home.Online condolences may be made at Nail-HaggardFH.com

So sorry to hear of Aunt Dorothy’s passing. Please accept my and Jean-Marc’s heartfelt sympathies on your loss. Every time I visited Daingerfield, when Dad still lived there, I would be on the lookout for Aunt Dorothy as I got close to her house. My favorite memories are of her walking along the road with her big hat. Now, I know she’s walking the streets of Heaven.
