Edgar Leon Sellars, Jr.Daingerfield- Graveside services for Edgar Leon Sellars, Jr., 95, of Houston will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at the Daingerfield Cemetery with Bro. Scott Darby officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Nail-Haggard Funeral Home.Leon was born January 22, 1917 in Bering, Tx. where he attended a two-room school through grade 5, walking one mile each way every day, regardless of weather conditions. The family then moved to Corrigan, where they resided for 5 years before moving to Daingerfield. Following completion of a business administration course, Leon was employed by Williams Motor Company, the local Chevrolet dealership as an auto mechanic. Three years later (1938) he was employed as a bookkeeper for H. L. Williams Lumber Co., where he worked for 3 years prior to being drafted into the Army Air Force. Following a training period, Leon served 4 years as an airplane mechanic in Indianapolis, Ind. After being discharged as a master sergeant in 1945, he resumed his position with H. L. Williams lumber in Daingerfield until June of 1947 when he was employed by the U. S. Postal Service, from which he retired as Postmaster in January, 1982. Leon was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Mary Elouise Kirkham, whom he married November 7, 1942. Leon died Sunday, May 27, 2012 in Houston. Survived by his daughter, Nancy Kuciemba; grandson, Jonathan Kuciemba of Houston; brother, Bill Sellars of Seattle, Washington.; sister, Wanda Sellars of Daingerfield; host of nieces and nephews.Family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. till service time Wednesday at the funeral home.Online condolences may be made at Nail-HaggardFH.com
