Family members, you have my condolences on the death of Mrs. Pope. I believe that Mrs. Pope is the one who painted my portrait when I was a little girl. The portrait was the focal point in my mom’s house from that point on, and many people complimented the talent of the artist through the years. My daughter has the portrait now in her Dallas apartment, but if you’d like, I would get a photo of it for you. If I have the wrong person, I apologize. The artist was living in Mount Pleasant at the time, and I guess the last time I saw her was around 1954. If this is the Mrs. Pope who I once knew, I would love to hear from you. Truly yours, Betsy Davis Schindler
Aunt Frances was the kind person always willing to lend a helping hand. I recall an incident back in the early 50’s when I was about 10. Daddy was down on his luck, out of a job and trying to move back to Odessa. During the trip he came down with the Mumps so we stopped at their home in San Angelo and she took us in. We stayed there several days til he was able to travel. There was Dad, Mom, us four boys and the four of them, all together in one small house. That must have been quite a circus. Diann, you remember that don’t you. (Bet you was glad to see us leave!!) Thanks for the help Aunt Frances. Your Nephew, Milton
I will miss seeing Mrs. Frances at the monthly Gospel Singing and the Thursday Bible study at Colonial Village. She always had such a bright disposition. Since my mother’s name was also Frances, each time I saw her it reminded me of my own mom. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. Mike Scrimpshire
