The following obituary was written by Phebe herself. We are honored to share her words exactly as she wished, allowing her to tell her own story in her own voice.
Phebe was called to Heaven on July 8, 2026. She lived 73 years full of fun, joy and passion. She was born in Longview, Texas on February 17th, 1953. She graduated from Longview High School in 1971. She embarked on a banking career that expanded over 35 years. Phebe retired from her career in 2009. She spent the rest of her days shopping, exploring nature, traveling and fun times with friends and family and watching sunsets.
Phebe enjoyed celebrating the gift of life with family and friends. Her kindness, generosity and love were reflected in those who she shared her time with. Phebe saw the beauty in small things and was a champion of the underdog. She will be remembered as much for the enthusiastic glow which approached daily in life as her grace and patience in challenging moments.
Phebe was a devoted companion and relished the love she shared with her husband, Sam. She was a loving and proud mother. Phebe loved people, animals, plants and was much into the care of our environment.
She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband, Sammy Reel, her daughter and son-in-law Angi and Eric McMichael, her stepson Colby Reel, grandchildren Conner and his wife Madison Alexander, Caden Reel, Cameron,
Chloe, Cian and Jaxson Reel, extended family and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her son Colin Reel.

I’m so sorry hear this. I had the pleasure of working with Phebe at Regions Bank. She was such a sweet person and will be missed. Prayers for Sammy & the family.
Phebe, I know you are Rejoicing in Peace ! I pray your Family and many friends find Peace in knowing that you are HOME🙏
The last time Phebe and I spoke – she walked up to me and hugged me before the morning worship service began – she asked how I was doing and told me she loved me. I was unaware of her suffering for she looked so beautiful that day. What a gracious lady – so faithful to her Lord, so chariable, and always with a smile. I thank God that he was merciful to her because in Him was her Hope. Ps.33:22
I was blessed to be able to visit with Phebe before she went into the hospital. She was having a good day and so thankful for that and her new lift chair. We had the best visit and shared deep parts of our journey that formed a special bond. Phebe is rejoicing with Jesus now… No doubt I will see her one day!
Phoebe and I go way back when Sam, Kent (my late husband), Phoebe, and I played spades every Friday night. We raised our families together and then grew apart. She was a sweet friend with such a beautiful spirit.
I had the delight to work with Phebe in the mid 1980s at First Federal in Longview. She had a way of making people comfortable immediately and establishing a lifelong connection. I went into education, but every time I ran into Phebe over the years, it felt like we had just seen each other the day before—such a great spirit!
