Cloven Lindle Barnard
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Cloven Lindle Barnard who departed this life at the age of 92 on July 1, 2026. He was born on January 5, 1934, in Cason, Texas.
Cloven Lindle Barnard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend whose life was marked by hard work, integrity, and a love for the outdoors. He spent many years working in the steel industry serving as Manager of Labor Relations at Lone Star Steel. Throughout his career, he earned respect of colleagues and employees alike through his fairness, dedication and strong work ethic. He absolutely loved his job. Even at the age of 92 you could catch him on some days negotiating contracts out loud in his room as if he was still at work. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Outside of work, Cloven found great joy in the outdoors. He loved to fish, hunt and camp, sometimes camping all summer long with his family and friends. Whether casting a line into a lake, sharing stories around the campfire or enjoying a hunt in the woods with family and friends, he embraced the simple pleasures of life and created countless cherished memories.
In his later years, Cloven resided at Heritage Park Assisted Living facility in Mount Pleasant, Tx where he continued to enjoy life and the companionship of others. He became a familiar face at bingo (where he was known as Mr. Bingo), dominos, volleyball and other social activities at the Home.
He loved to set and talk about Lone Star Steel to many of the residents. (Those who were so kind to listen, we thank you).
Cloven Lindle Barnard leaves behind a legacy of hard work, treasured memories and a life well lived.
He is survived by his daughters and their spouse, Sharion and Randall Crawley of Cookville, Tx; Paula and Gerald Williams of Daingerfield, Tx; Misty and Kenneth Stutsman of Daingerfield, Tx; Stephanie and Rusty Bhlom of Daingerfield, Tx and Mindie and Rance Rhyne of Pittsburg, Tx along with several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by one brother Jimmy Barnard and his wife Darlene of Lufkin, Tx.
He was preceded in death by his father Jewel Barnard; mother Lenner Barnard; wife Peggy Sue Barnard; son Larry Lindle Barnard; grandson Marty Dwayne Crawley; brothers Jewel Harledge Barnard, aka “Pap”, Jerold Troyce Barnard; sisters, Opal Williams, Johnna Lou House and Betty Marie Davis.

he was a good man
Families, you lost a very good, respectful, and caring man who gained the utmost respect from LSS employees He was a mentor, friend, respected by all. I am so glad I was able to visit him and listen to stories again. I know he is happy to be with his Peggy Love to all.
My friend Cloven exemplified integrity. He recognized how important it is was to working with contracts and people. Folks could always trust what Cloven said. He had the most amazing memory of anyone I think I have ever known. He could recall incidents, issues, statements with amazing accuracy. I admit to being envious of this talent. See you again old friend.
