Betty Bell Smith
Celebrating the life of Betty Bell Smith, who passed away in Mount Pleasant, Texas. Born on October 15, 1932, in Jenkins, Texas, Betty was the epitome of giving, service, a huge heart, and impeccable organization.
Betty initially worked as a bookkeeper at a bank, later embracing her life’s passion as a homemaker and mother following the birth of her children. She was deeply devoted to the Bradfield Chapel Methodist Church where she also formed an integral part of the community. Betty cherished spending her time gardening and sewing, hobbies that were only paralleled by the love she had for her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she adored immensely.
Left to honor her memory are her daughters, Kim Fowler and her husband Buddy, Paula Nix and her husband Dennis; her son, Chris Smith and his wife Treva; her sister, Dean Knight; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will miss her nurturing presence.
Betty was reunited in death with her beloved husband, Don Louis Smith, her parents, Claude and Annie Mae Vaughn, and her sisters, Claudia Cason and Annetta Vaughn.
Betty Bell Smith’s legacy of love, devoted service, and family devotion will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her. Her life was a beautiful reflection of her values, radiating kindness and organization in all she did, leaving an indelible mark on her community and everyone she touched.
A graveside service will be held at 2 PM, Friday, December 26, 2025 at Bradfield Chapel Cemetery with Pastor Chad Thompson of South Union Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Horn Family Funeral Home of Daingerfield.
