Clayton Thornton
Celebrating the life of Clayton Daniel Thornton, we remember a man who truly lived life on his own terms. Born on October 4, 1980, in Palestine, Texas, Clayton spent his formative years attending Daingerfield and Hughes Springs Schools before proudly serving in the Army.
Clayton resided in Texas City, Texas, where his passions and hobbies made him a beloved figure in his community. A true outdoorsman, he cherished the times he spent fishing and camping. His mechanical inclination not only showcased his ability to fix and understand machinery but also played a significant role during his distinguished military service, which included several tours in Iraq.
A man of many interests, Clayton also had a great sense of humor and enjoyed cooking, often sharing laughter and meals with those he loved. His personal strength and dedication were evident from an early age, notably joining the military at merely 17, a testament to his bold spirit and commitment.
Clayton is survived by his loving family, including his children, Jonathan Thornton and his wife Arrieana, and River Thornton, all of Hockley. He also leaves behind his brother, Bobby Phillips, and Angie of Mount Pleasant; his nephew, Trystan Phillips; as well as his aunts, cousins, friends, and his special furry companion, Ava.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Danny and Donna Thornton Phillips.
Clayton’s life was a vibrant journey marked by bravery, humor, and a profound appreciation for the simple joys of life. His legacy is etched in the hearts of those who knew him and felt the warmth of his presence. Clayton Daniel Thornton will be deeply missed, yet fondly remembered for the unique and indomitable spirit he was.
A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, December 3, 2025 in the Chapel of Horn Family Funeral Home of Daingerfield with Bro. Scott Darby officiating. Burial will follow in Blevins Cemetery in Cason. The family will receive friends beginning at 12 PM prior to the service.
